Emerging Technologies, Breakthrough Innovations – the Technology Talks 2024 in a brand new format for the first time in Vienna.

The New

Technology Talks

Technology for the Triple Transition: ecological, digital & human.

Solutions for Business, Industry and Society

The main topic of the Technology Talks Austria 2024 is the essential significance of key technologies and the important role of research, technology and innovation (RTI) for the "Triple Transition" - the simultaneous "green" and digital transformation, which should be human-centered. RTI secures jobs and prosperity, strengthens the competitiveness of Austrian industry and Austria as a business location. RTI is the basis for Europe's technological sovereignty and increases resilience.

The ongoing transformation processes pose major challenges for business and industry, science and society, but also offer great opportunities that need to be utilized in the best possible way. The transformation processes must be actively and strategically shaped for that purpose. We urgently need solutions - and for this we need more research, technology and innovation.

Shaping the future succesfully

The aim is to discuss which areas need more attention in order to actively shape the future and make progress on pressing challenges. Answers will be sought to many questions, such as: What areas need more research? Where do we need to invest more to drive change and build a prosperous future? How can we create globally visible beacons and attract talent? What measures do policymakers need to take to ensure a successful future?

These topics will be discussed in an innovative mix of concise keynote speeches by internationally renowned speakers, diverse plenary debates and in-depth workshops. A multi-stakeholder perspective will be adopted in all formats: The three groups of science/research, business/industry and politics/public authorities are always involved - with the aim of identifying solutions for business, industry and society and deriving conclusions for European and Austrian RTI policy.

Program overwiev

We place great emphasis to a balanced mix of presentations, discussions, workshops and space for networking in the program.

The program includes panels on the three sub-areas of the "Triple Transition", in which the transformative potential of new technologies will be highlighted. On the other hand, implications for international, European and national RTI policy will be discussed. Contributions to these debates will come from internationally renowned speakers and panellists.

The aim of the Technology Talks Austria is to draw concrete conclusions and necessary measures on how business, industry, science and society can successfully master the challenges and make the best possible use of the opportunities that arise and strategically shape them.

Museumsquartier Wien

For two days, the MuseumsQuartier Vienna will turn into a research and innovation campus.

First held in 1983 as part of the European Forum Alpbach, the Technology Talks developed into the leading platform for future issues in the areas of research, innovation, and technology.

After 40 successful years, the Technology Talks are now being reinvented: Starting in Vienna (for the first time back-to-back with the FFG Forum of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency), the summit of the technology community will take place every autumn in central locations in Austria.

With a strong focus on international and European developments, technology trends will be discussed, breakthrough innovations identified and current questions of RTI policy addressed.
