Heinz Faßmann (born August 13, 1955 in Düsseldorf) is a university professor of applied geography, spatial research and spatial planning at the University of Vienna. From 2017, he was Federal Minister of Education - from 2018 to 2021 also responsible for science and research. In March 2022, he was elected President of the Austrian Academy of Sciences by the Academy members.
